The Jar Healthy Vending Digest: CBD

Once discussed by our dearest Adel in her article about the newest superfoods on the market we thought it’s about the time to pay more attention to the CBD trend that is gaining its momentum. Yet to be legalized in countries like Russia, CBD oil seems to be the new age “chia seeds” for most of Europe.

What is CBD?

CBD or cannabidiol is one of the hundred molecules (cannabinoids) that are produced by the cannabis family. Unlike the main psychoactive element in cannabis THC (tetrahydrocannabinol ) CBD is not responsible for strongly effecting your cognitive brain activity. In simple words, it does not make you stoned or much high. CBD used in the foods usually comes in the form of added oil which is extracted from the hemp with less THC than in regular marijuana.

What are the benefits of CBD?

Many would say that the result from intaking CBD oil is basically the same as from smoking a joint just without the mind-altering side effects which many dislike. Best use cases would be relieving any kind of pain, reducing anxiety and depression. In a hectic city like London, these all are just some regular compound of everyday stress which CBD can take care of.

How is CBD used in the food and beverage industry?

CBD is now being added everywhere possible to eat or drink. You can find cakes, coffees, teas, soft drinks, and even whole meals infused with CBD. Usually, it is added to the drinks and foods in mixture with other natural oils such as coconut or olive to avoid the CBD real taste, which is not very appetizing, to say the least.

Our CEO Iruii once brought some CBD water samples from company ‘X’ which were tasted by other colleagues of ours Valeria. Her reaction was at that time: “we should not be selling water with which a bong was washed in our vending machines.”

With the development of CBD industry more and more companies are trying to adjust to the new trends by adding those oils to their products. However, please, be very selective on what you take as the market is still very young with many “bad tries” products even from the big brands.

Can I find CBD products in The Jar Healthy Vending Machines?

Would we even be talking about it above if we did not have something for you to try? And don’t you worry, it is not that dirty water Valeria tried once. We have been trying different CBD products by many suppliers in the field for many months now.

Valeria does not really like this part after her first attempt to choose the best CBD water :D.

After several tough torches of Valeria, we have finally selected our first CBD products by MEDA. We have included three MEDA drinks in our product list which we found the perfect match to our audience: for focus, for skin glow, and for adopting some healthier habits.

We will be happy to listen to your opinion about CBD infused drinks and foods you have tried. Please, feel free to share your ideas on what we need to add to our healthy vending machines in London next.
