But where does this trend come from? What are the benefits? Why celery, after all?!

Celery is a herbaceous plant of the parsley family. Some say it is a vegetable, others believe it is a herb. Whichever you prefer to call it, one thing is undeniable - it is super low calorie and nutrients loaded.

The celery juice boom actually started with Anthony William (you might have heard about Medical Medium). He was not only testing it himself since 1975 but as a nutritionist always recommended the "herbal medicine" as a remedy for many chronic illnesses to his clients.

Organically, the word has gotten out over the years and finally reached your Instagram feed.

So, what's so unique about celery juice that makes people go all-in on this drink?

In fact, it's the nutrients. One cup of celery juice contains a whole load of essential minerals that many people lack in their diets, like calcium, magnesium or potassium, as well as Vitamins A, B-6, K and C.

Drinking celery in juice form allows you to consume much more of the vegetable — and thus higher quantities of its nutrients and vitamins — than if you were just munching on the stock.

Because celery is about 95% water and contains electrolytes, drinking celery juice is a great way to stay hydrated. Staying hydrated keeps your body working properly and improves sleep, cognition, and mood.

Additionally, electrolytes like sodium, calcium, and potassium help regulate fluid levels in the body. They also stimulate muscle contractions to keep your heart pumping and muscles moving. We guess it makes it a great fuel for the start of the day.

The legend says morning is the best time to consume celery juice. However, you can have it anytime of the day, just make sure it is slightly prior to your food intake.

Here are a few guidelines to the best celery practice:

  • Every morning, drink roughly sixteen ounces of celery juice on an empty stomach (use one large bunch of celery).

  • Celery juice is a medicinal drink, not a caloric one, so you’ll still need breakfast afterward to power you through the morning.

  • Wait at least fifteen minutes after drinking your celery juice before consuming anything else.
